1. Science Museum Oklahoma
Have you checked out their “Soundscapes” exhibit yet? No? You should! It’s not often we see “art meets science” installations like this in Oklahoma. A lot of local artists have banded together with Science Museum Oklahoma to create this very neat experience. The exhibit is located in their Satellite Galleries.

2. Oklahoma Museum of Art
Watch their “Oscar: Tune Up” series. Personally, I really want to see “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” I dare you to not be simultaneously enchanted and enthralled. Other notes? They tell you which Oscar categories each of the films are nominated for.

3. Myriad Botanical Gardens
Need something to do indoors or outdoors perhaps and maybe all in one spot? Check out what’s in bloom in the Crystal Bridge.

5. Martin Park Nature Center

Nature Story time in the Martin Park Library. Saturdays from 10:30-11:15 for ages 3-8. A nature hike or craft that goes with the story theme will follow. Call 755-0676 for more information.
February 16, 1-4 p.m. Sensory Afternoon: Experience Nature using all of your senses during our sensory afternoon program at Martin Park Nature Center. The February program focuses on introducing nature to individuals with sensitivities to environmental stimuli. Open to persons of all ability levels. Call 755-0676 for additional information. FREE
February 17 10 a.m. – Noon: Creative Writing Workshop with Tim. Let the beauty of nature inspire your creativity! Participants will learn the fundamentals of storytelling for the novel and short story. The first class will discuss creative basics, then provide participants with a writing prompt, which will be discussed and analyzed during the second class. Pre-registration required. Cost: $4 per person for both classes.
Other notes?
The education center also boasts the city’s first observation bee hive. Built by Canadian County 4-H Club members, with assistance of the Central Oklahoma Bee Keepers Association, the hive boasts over 8,000 active bees. The bees have open access to and from the park grounds, where they can gather pollen to take back to the hive to produce honey.

It heartens us to see the United Filmmakers of Oklahoma community grow and continue on the fine tradition of indie film making.
7. OKC COMEDY!
Go tickle your funny bones. Check the link for the Facebook event page. Show will be on Feb 17th this Sunday at City Arts Center. Tickets $10 online/$15 at the door.
In 2010, Shane had his first TV special Comedy Central Presents: Shane Mauss and released his first CD Jokes To Make My Parents Proud with Comedy Central Records, which was named in the Top 10 Albums of 2010by Punchline Magazine.
Originally from La Crosse, WI, Shane Mauss moved to Boston in 2004 (at the supple, tender age of 23) to pursue his childhood dream of becoming a standup comedian. In less than three years, Shane caught his big break when he was awarded Best Standup Comic at HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival in 2007.
Shane’s TV credits include three appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien,plus one appearance on the Conan on TBS, an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, Showtime’s Comics Without Borders, Two appearances on BBC’s The World Stands Up, and in what is easily his strangest television appearance to date: Playboy TV’s Night Calls.
