For the third year in a row, the Paseo Arts Association will work alongside the Oklahoma Heart Hospital to both celebrate artwork by the PAA’s membership and encourage awareness of women’s heart health issues, just in time for National Wear Red Day for Women. The event will begin with a press conference at a.k.a. Gallery in the Paseo District (3001 Paseo St.) with the announcement of the 2014 Heart Hero Awards. The event will continue that evening with a unique Gallery Walk in Paseo from 6:00-10:00pm, featuring the Annual PAA Members Show. This annual juried member exhibition shows the best of original work created by the PAA’s 300+ membership, and represents media from painting and photography to jewelry, ceramics, and glass. Artists submitting work to the Members Show were encouraged to include the theme color (red) in their works.  The opening reception for this exhibition will take place during the Paseo’s February First Friday Gallery Walk, when attendees will also be able to visit more than twenty galleries along Paseo St., collect information and goodies about heart health, and enjoy window decorations that feature the color red.

Another element to this collaborative project is the inclusion of the OSU Fashion Merchandising Department. Students within this department will submit original red dress creations, which will be on display at a.k.a. Gallery in Paseo.

During the month of February the campaign continues with displays of artwork from the PAA Members Show at Oklahoma Heart Hospital’s North and South Campuses as well as the Paseo Arts Space in Paseo. This artwork will also be available for purchase with some of the proceeds going to the artist and the other portion split as a fundraiser for the Paseo Arts Association and the Volunteer Auxiliary Foundation at Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
