After a depressing day of assembling bombing anniversary coverage, I now am tasked with telling you all about Record Store Day. Record Store Day is a pretend holiday where people get together and agree to spend a bunch of money at local independent record stores. In return, bands and labels release a whole bunch of exclusive stuff for the obsessive collectors to battle over. In this spirit of commerce and camaraderie, the participating stores go all out, having concerts, bringing out free booze, basically doing whatever they can to bring the teeming masses inside to spend some cash on sweet, sweet colored vinyl, picture discs, limited releases, exclusive 7†singles and more. Here are the local stores officially participating in RSD:
Size Records – 2 Locations
8915 n. western ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73114
Go check out their new store in The Plaza District! It’s by your house probably!
1701 NW 16th St  Oklahoma City, OK 73106
“so, here are the details for tomorrow:
the Plaza location will open at 10am
the Tulsa location will open at 11am
the Western location will open at 12pm
we have a reasonable amount of items, mostly just enough for one at each store. we’re not holding anything for anyone, nor will we be responding to phone calls, emails, smoke signals or morse code to ask if we have whatever you’re looking for – you know what Sweet Brown says, so i won’t quote her. the Plaza store will have the rsd releases scattered throughout the racks, so you’ll just have to dig for them. the Tulsa store will have a separate table for easy perusal, and the western store is still a mess, so wherever the fuck i can find space is where they’ll go. the nice folks at KIDROBOT INC. supplied us with some All-City Breakers toys, so those are FREE with every purchase.”
Guestroom Records – 3 Locations
3701 N. Western Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73118

I’m not entirely sure this store still exists, but it’s listed on the RSD website, so…
Incidentally: There’s a CD Warehouse still in Shawnee?
There are other stores in the metro who are running specials but are not officially participating, so no super exclusive vinyl there…but if you’re a real vinyl fanatic you’ll want to hit them all.
