Monday 12-16-13, there will be a Congressional hearing about “Who are the Navigators”, conducted by Chairman of the Oversight Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa. This is yet another attempt by the GOP to stifle any efforts to ensure that Texans have access to affordable healthcare through the ACA. Make no mistake about it, this is a dog and pony show. While it’s being billed as open hearing, the only people who will be allowed to speak are “invited testimony”–that means families that have had positive interactions with navigators will be shut out of the conversation.
This is great media opportunity for our message–to be the counterpoint which is that we need the quality, affordable healthcare in Texas AND we need the GOP to stop obstructing efforts to implement the law. TOP is sponsoring this effort and we need allies to turnout to the event. Undoubtedly, there will be a strong Tea Party presence. Our goal is to turnout 50 people for the entire event.
