THE LI$T: 10/8/13

by Derek Moore

I don’t know if any of you are struggling with the current seasonal changes as much as I am, but this transition’s been pretty rough on my sinuses, throat, head and stomach. Thus, due to the necessary cocktail of DayQuil, Benadryl, Sudaphed, NyQuil, Robitussin, and whatever other medicines I felt like throwing in for treatment, I need to keep this article short so as to avoid meandering down a verbal highway similar in nature to the MarioKart 64 version of Rainbow Road.

Side note: this music loses no value while taking said medicine cocktail. In fact, it might even gain some.

Ok, off we go. The first five tracks highlight female vocals. Haim and Lorde are currently garnering a bunch of attention and are both relatively new to the spotlight. Au Revoir Simone, The Blow and Mazzy Star, however, have been around for some time now, and they haven’t seemed to have lost any of the talent that made them popular in the first place.

The next track is Justin Timberlake. Take it or leave it.

Finally, Dr. Dog guides you out of your hypnotized, eyes-glossed-over dancing state into a world of guitar distortion overtaken by Yuck and Fuzz. You can imagine by their two respective band names what’s in store for you.

Side note: whatever bug I have should probably be called Yuck & Fuzz, as that’s exactly what my throat feels like.

I wish you all a quick recovery if you need it. Otherwise, appreciate your health while you have it.

See you next week.
